Lower School Visual Arts

Art classes begin in PK and meet weekly throughout the Lower School. Students explore painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and work with clay, fiber, and found materials. An open studio approach encourages young artists to be inventive and original. As students advance through the grades they participate in reflective practices and are encouraged to take a more active role in their artmaking. Students are introduced to art history and learn to appreciate the impact that the arts have on society. Art projects are often collaborative and are designed to complement the classroom curriculum. Middle School Visual Arts

In keeping with the integrated approach to learning in all divisions at Brimmer, art projects are often interdisciplinary in nature, with attention paid to the cultural significance and historical context of the material. Students learn about the artistic process, experiment with a variety of art forms, and expand their critical vocabulary. All Middle School Arts
