Solar Eclipse Viewing

Our Science Department planned an immersive learning experience for our PK-12 students so we could embrace the solar eclipse as a whole School community!

In the Upper School, STEAM Program Director Mr. Hardman brought a group of students to Northern New Hampshire to get a better view. All other grades 6-12 students attended a special assembly led by Science Department Chair Ms. Pan and Middle School Dean and Science Teacher Dr. Gallon, where they explained why eclipses happen, why this eclipse is so remarkable, and how to view the eclipse safely.

In the Lower School, Kindergarten students explored the creation of shadows, crafting their designs with paper, scissors, and flashlights. Meanwhile, third graders honed their nonfiction reading skills, delving into eclipse literature. Our fifth graders, leaders of the Lower School, drew from their science knowledge to craft engaging lessons for their younger peers, ensuring understanding and safety in viewing the eclipse.
