Bloom Auction - 2014

The Bloom Auction was a great success, raising close to $80,000 for classroom technology upgrades, STEAM programming, and financial aid for Pre-K-12.We achieved our goal of funding 10 classrooms with projectors and Apple TVs, and the Lower School playground will have a new Circle Cycle. All of these items will be installed over the summer in time for the 2014-2015 school year. Thank you so much to the Auction bidders, donors, volunteers, and supporters! You made the event the success it was. Thank you especially to Auction Gala Co-Chairs, Carla Leeder,Marianne Lynch-Morrow, Julie Nijmeh, and Patricia Portabales. We could not have done it without you and the entire Auction Committee! We were thrilled at the energy in the room, and grateful to Auctioneer Bill Jacob for keeping the bids coming in quickly!

Head of School Judy Guild spoke about Sharin saying, “Sharin came to Brimmer and May first as a 2/3 teacher and Director of the After school program, she then taught 3^rd grade, and then was a long-term fourth grade teacher. She and her partner Brian Allieri were a ‘dream team.’ They collaborated with one another and built new units of study (Japan unit began with them) all so the children would have the best possible experience they could have in the classroom. . . .”

 

Sharin served as Interim Lower Head, worked in Admissions, and then later became Director of the Annual Fund. Judy shared, “We will be dedicating a bench that will sit under the cherry blossoms in the front of McCoy Hall in honor of [Sharin’s] years of service while also symbolizing [her] commitment to the Japan curriculum that has lasted all these years.”

Development Director Elizabeth Smith spoke about Sharin saying, “She has taken the Annual Fund to a whole new level over the past two years: raising it by 25% the first year and 30% the following year.  This was due to her personalized attention and especially her knack for recruiting parents, alumni, trustees and faculty as volunteers to contact their peers.”
